MP´s pay and compensation for
expenses
As of 1 August 2007, Members of Parliament receive a monthly salary
of 5400 euros, with the figure rising to 5800 euros after 12 years
of service.
In addition to their salary as MPs, committee chairs for the Grand Committee,
Constitutional Law Committee, Foreign Affairs Committee, and the Finance
Committee receive a montly supplement of 1000 euros, while chairpersons
for the other committees receive a monthly supplement of 600 euros.
The Speaker receives 10200 euros a month and the deputy speakers 8500
euros a month.
As of 1 August 2007, within the Finance Committee the chair of the
Subcommittee for Tax Affairs receives a monthly supplement of 600 euros,
whereas the other subcommittee chairs receive a monthly supplement of 400
euros. This supplement is not paid if a subcommittee chair is entitled
to a committee chair's supplement.
Parliamentary group chairs receive a monthly supplement of 1000 euros
if the group has 16 or more members, and 600 euros if it has 3-15 members.
No supplement is paid if a group has only one or two members.

COMPENSATION FOR EXPENSES
In addition to salary, MPs receive tax exempt compensation for work-related
expenses on the 15th of each month. This compensation is calculated as
a percentage of basic pay for civil servants in class A 27, depending on
where an MP lives.
Separate renumeration is not paid for attending committee meetings,
nor do evening and weekend sessions increase MPs' earnings.

TRAVEL
MPs are entitled to travel free of charge by rail, scheduled flights
and by bus in Finland, as well as by taxi in the Helsinki metropolitan
area for purposes related to legislative work.
