Helsinki, November 1998Motto: What love and democracy have in common is that we all want them, but seldom understand that we must work hard for them. Dear Madame / Sir, It is with great pleasure that I now enclose an invitation and a draft programme of POLITICS & INTERNET Congress. On the initiative of the Committee for the Future of the Finnish Parliament, the Finnish National Fund for Research and Development is organising an International Congress on "Politics & Internet" in January 6th - 9th, 1999. A wide-ranging assembly of experts has participated in the arrangements for the Congress which is sponsored by Finland's leading information technology companies. The Congress will offer a unique forum for participants to take a closer look at the views of the information society's leading-edge researchers and developers and to establish new Finnish and international contacts. The sessions and lectures held in connection with the Congress will provide a comprehensive overview of the current stage and future development of the information society. Democracy is a basic thing for success in many ways. That is why the Committee for the Future has participated in organizing international conference on information society. The Committee is also interested in modern technology. One of our latest experiments with Internet was to show live the Assembly session regarding the report of the Committee for the Future. We have many high-level speakers and representatives and we are still expecting some more. Now it is the right time for registration to the POLITICS & INTERNET Conference in Finland. If you want more information, do not hesitate to contact the conference bureau (address inclosed in the draft programme hereby). Sincerely yours, Paula Tiihonen Counsellor to the Committee for the Future |
