Instructions

You can search for a subject heading by typing it in the search window. Use # for truncation. The result will show all subject headings where your word appears as a subject heading or as a part of a subject heading, as a 'see also' reference, or as an English or Swedish equivalent.

You can use the subject heading for a search in the Library's SELMA database by clicking on the link next to the Finnish subject heading Search in Selma. This will enable you to browse subject headings and subject heading chains in Finnish. References have been provided with Finnish subject headings.

The classified index shows all subject headings in each subject category. When you click on a subject heading, you will see the Finnish subject heading, its English and Swedish equivalents, 'see also' references, and the class of the subject heading.

By browsing the alphabetical index, you will get a list of subject headings that start with the same letter. When you click on a subject heading, you will see the Finnish subject heading, its English and Swedish equivalents, 'see also' references, and the classification code of the subject heading. The 'see also' reference and the classification code allow you to continue your search inside the list of subject headings.
