The list of subject headings contains subject headings in the fields of knowledge concerning parliament, jurisprudence and political and social information. The list of subject headings is in Finnish and is intended for describing the contents of both Finnish and foreign publications and for information retrieval by means of subject headings. The main terms have Swedish and English equivalents. They can be searched for or browsed either alphabetically or systematically in the Swedish-language and English-language user interfaces.

The classification of the list of subject headings is based on the system of legal fields used in Oikeudellinen perussanasto (1987), supplemented with the categories of political and social information as well as parliamentary information. Thus, the subject categories are somewhat different with respect to their depth.

The list has about 4,000 subject headings.
