Välimeri-unionin parlamentaarisen yleiskokouksen Suomen valtuuskunta

Finnish Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean

The framework for cooperation between the EU and its neighbours to the south has traditionally been the Barcelona Process, which was launched in 1995. The aim of cooperation is to increase dialogue and interaction between the EU and non-member countries around the Mediterranean Sea. In 2008 the Union for the Mediterranean was established on the basis of a French initiative. It currently includes 43 countries.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean is the parliamentary dimension to intergovernmental cooperation. It provides input to spur the development of Euro-Mediterranean cooperation, takes positions on the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership and the implementation of partnership agreements, and issues political recommendations and declarations for consideration at Euro-Mediterranean Ministerial meetings.

The Finnish delegation has three members and three alternates.
