The Grand Committee heard Commissioner for financial services, financial stability and Capital Markets Union Mairead McGuinness on Friday, 12 November. Topics of the discussion included the EU taxonomy, a classification system that establishes environmentally sustainable economic activities, and its impact on national forest policy.
Other topics of discussion were, for example, the division of responsibilities between the Commission and the Member States, the role of nuclear power in EU taxonomy and the impact of legislative proposals on small and medium-sized enterprises.
McGuinness praised the commitment of Finns and Finnish decision-makers to combat climate change. Finland is a leading country in the pursuit of climate neutrality, McGuinness said.
