Video: Lamassoure: The importance of parliamentary cooperation for the European Union is constantly growing

Problems related to research, development, digital economy, world trade, controlling migration, national and international security, and the struggle against global warming, are the responsibilities of both the European Union and the member states, and coordination is needed, Lamassoure says.

For him, however, the main question is the one that no one is asking.

“It is the problem of the financial means, the level of European budget made available for European policies. There is an ever growing gap between the declared ambition of the European leaders who meet at the European Council on the one hand, and the financial means made available to achieve these ambitions.”

“We need to have the courage, when we are transferring responsibility to the Union, to also transfer the means”, Lamassoure emphasizes.
