The last inter-parliamentary conference of the Romanian presidency dealt with EU’s trade relations, the importance of the European education area for the single market, and strengthening the innovation- and technology-based economy.
In her closing statement, the Chair of the Grand Committee, Satu Hassi (Greens), thanked Romania for its excellent work with the EU presidency, and welcomed the members of parliament to the meetings of the Finnish presidency.
The national programme of the Finnish presidency will be presented today in the plenary session of Eduskunta as the Prime Minister’s plenary session announcement. The Chair Hassi told that the programme highlights, for example, ambitious climate policy, the rule of law as the base of EU’s success, and strengthening multilateral international cooperation.
Eduskunta’s representatives in COSAC are the Grand Committee’s 1st Vice-Chair Jani Mäkelä (Finns Party), Johannes Koskinen (Social Democrats), Pia Kauma (National Coalition Party) and Jouni Ovaska (Centre Party).
The first parliamentary meeting of the Finnish Presidency will be the COSAC Chairpersons’ meeting 21 – 22 July. The Plenary Meeting of the LXII COSAC will be organised in Helsinki in the beginning of December.
