The excellent bilateral relations between Finland and Vietnam are based on 40 years of development cooperation that is gradually turning into a commercial and economic partnership. This became evident when Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, Vice President of Vietnam, visited Finland and met the Speaker of the Parliament Maria Lohela. Deputy Speaker Mauri Pekkarinen was also present at the meeting.
Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh thanked Finland for supporting the development of Vietnam and expressed her hope for extending cooperation, particularly in the commercial and economic sector. In addition to education, ICT and clean tech, Vietnam is interested in Finnish innovation expertise.
Speaker Lohela stated that cooperation between Finland and Vietnam has reached a new level. The two countries want to make their bilateral relations more diverse, particularly by deepening their trade relationship. Lohela mentioned clean tech as an example.
Deputy Speaker Mauri Pekkarinen brought up Vietnam's successful development over recent decades. He would like to see deeper cooperation in the fields of education and innovation activities.
Vice President Thinh is visiting Finland on 16–19 October at the invitation of Prime Minister Juha Sipilä (Centre).
