Parliament of Finland does not support the compromise proposal on the CSAM Regulation

The Grand Committee considers that Finland cannot support the compromise of the current EU Presidency in the negotiations on rules for preventing and combating child sexual abuse (the so-called CSAM Regulation proposal). Parliament thus concurs with the Government's position.

The Grand Committee continues to regard the detection order as a key element of the proposed regulation and stresses the importance of finding a technology-neutral, functional, and sufficiently effective solution in this respect. The Grand Committee draws the Government's special attention to the constitutional views expressed by the Constitutional Law Committee on the matter.

The Grand Committee reiterates the position it has expressed in its previous statements that the proposal has a highly important and commendable objective: to prevent and combat online child sexual abuse through EU-level measures.
