Member of Parliament Petteri Orpo (Coalition Party Parliamentary Group) has been elected chairman of the Parliamentary Defense Committee. The election was unanimous at a meeting of the Defense Committee on Tuesday, April 26th. Jari Ronkainen (Finns Party Parliamentary Group) was elected to continue as vice chairman of the Committee.
On April 22, plenary session elected the following MPs as members of the Defence Committee: Mika Kari, Kimmo Kiljunen, Riitta Mäkinen, Erkki Tuomioja (Social Democratic Parliamentary Group), Jari Ronkainen, Juha Mäenpää, Veijo Niemi (Finns Parliamentary Group), Petteri Orpo, Timo Heinonen, Jukka Kopra (Coalition Party Parliamentary Group), Eeva Kalli, Tuomas Kettunen, Joonas Könttä (Centre Party Parliamentary Group), Atte Harjanne, Hanna Holopainen (Green Parliamentary Group), Markus Mustajärvi (Left Alliance Parliamentary Group) and Anders Adlercreutz (Swedish Parliamentary Group).
Elected vice members are Heidi Viljanen, Tuula Väätäinen (Social Democratic Parliamentary Group), Tom Packalén, Mika Niikko (Finns Party Parliamentary Group), Antti Häkkänen, Sofia Vikman (Coalition Party Parliamentary Group), Mikko Savola (Centre Party Parliamentary Group), Mirka Heinikoski (Green Parliamentary Group) and Matti Semin (Left Alliance Parliamentary Group).
