The climate change conference on the EU’s climate goals and tightening the EU’s emission reduction targets will be held at Little Parliament (the Annex building of the Parliament) on 7 October.
The conference, which is part of Finland’s EU Presidency programme, will discuss concrete objectives and measures for combating climate change. During Finland’s EU Presidency, the Finnish Parliament is arranging a total of seven inter-parliamentary meetings in Helsinki.
The opening speech will be given by Hannu Hoskonen, Chair of the Environment Committee. Satu Hassi, Chair of the Grand Committee, will chair the meeting. The speakers at the conference include Petteri Taalas, the Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and Doctor Gunnar Luderer from the Climate Impact Research Institute in Potsdam, Germany. European investors and representatives from the world of business will also give presentations before the debate.
